Hey guys! Just wanted to let you all know that this entry was my thoughts from a lesson one of my youth leaders gave at youth group a few weeks back. So it's coming from my head but she helped put it in there. lol.
Worship.
What first comes to your mind when you think of that word? Music.....Praise.....Words..
Well all of these things can be worship, but only when we want to do them. Worship is what we were created for! God made us because he loved us and the best way to give it all back to him here on this earth, is worship. Worship is a choice, an attitude, and it's all about Him. Worship is not that tingley feeling you get when your singing your favorite praise song at church. (Although Praise God for that feeling, it's amazing!) Worship is the choice you made when you decided to sing that song and just give it all back to him. But the action of worship is not what counts, it's your attitude behind it. This is my problem, I might be at church "worshiping" , but that action of worship doesnt have the right attitude behind it if I'm thinking...'wow that guy looks kinda funny'..or..'ugh I'm so hungry, I wish we could go home already so I can eat something!'. If my heart doesn't have the right attitude, my act of worship means nothing to God.
Personally, my definition of worship would be praising God for all he is and all he does all the time, even when things in my own life might not be going so well. Praising Him in the storm, so to speak.
Blessed be Your name when the sun's shining down on me, when the world's all as it should be. Blessed be Your name.
Blesses be Your name on the road marked with suffering, though there's pain in the offering. Blessed be Your name.
Every blessing You pour out I'll turn back to praise.
When the darkness closes in, Lord still I will say,
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name! ~Blessed be Your Name-Matt Redman~
