Ants Proverbs 6:6-9

Almost all of us have squashed an ant hill when we were younger. I really don’t know why, but we did. I never really liked ants. They are tiny and crawl around gathering food from our houses or outside. The ant works hard almost constantly to make sure it, and it’s whole colony will eat. God created ants with the instinct to work hard! Now you might be saying, ‘Work and hard in the same sentence?!? HELP!’ (me too) , and that’s our natural instinct, not to work hard. And if we do work, not to put our mind and energy into it. The Bible warns against this instinct. But is it really an instinct, or just a habit? Here’s a hint, habits can be broken! The Bible clues us in on how to, (with a lot of help from God) break this habit. The Bible says in Proverbs 6:6-8, “ Go to the ant you sluggard; consider it’s ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseers or ruler, yet it stores up it’s provisions in the summer and gathers it’s food at harvest.” Check that out! Ants don’t even need a slave driver (mom or dad) to get it to work! The Proverbs continue on with a question for us. It says in verse 9 , “How long will you lie there you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep?” There you have it, a wake up call straight from God’s word telling us to break the habit of the human race and work hard. Make the ant your role model.
